What We Do Together

Honoring the Whole System: An Integrative Approach to Trauma

Traditional approaches often treat healing like a straight line or a math problem to be solved, but if you have lived through overwhelming experiences, you already know recovery doesn't work that way. True healing isn't about overriding your thoughts with logic, but about learning the unique language of your own nervous system and making peace with the many layers of who you are.

Because trauma impacts us on every level, my practice uses a collaborative, mind-body approach that weaves together psychoeducation, somatic-informed exploration, parts work, and EMDR. These are not rigid steps in a checklist; they are fluid resources we use to navigate your internal landscape together.

  • Psychoeducation (tending to the mind): We look at the science of the nervous system, not to diagnose you away, but to lift the weight of shame. When we understand how the brain adapts to survive, we can begin to see our patterns as brilliant survival strategies rather than permanent character flaws.

  • Somatic-Informed Exploration (listening to the body): Trauma leaves physical echoes in the body, such as a tightness in the chest, a knot in the stomach, or a heavy sense of numbness. We gently practice tracking these physical landscape markers and helping your nervous system find anchors in the present moment without forcing you to push past what feels safe.

  • Parts Work (navigating internal conflict): We all carry different facets of personality. You might notice a harsh inner critic, a part that works overtime to please others, or a younger part holding onto deep grief. Rather than trying to silence or "fix" these reactions, we turn toward them with curiosity, learning why they are working so hard to protect you.

  • EMDR (processing stuck terrain): When your body feels anchored and your internal protectors give us the green light, we can utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Using gentle bilateral stimulation (like guided eye movements or tapping), we help your brain untangle and naturally digest stuck, heavy memories so they finally lose their emotional charge.

We never rush. By blending these tools, our sessions become a safe space where your mind is understood (psychoeducation), your body is grounded (somatic), your internal conflicts are honored (parts work), and the root wounds are finally cleared (EMDR). You don't have to fight yourself to heal; we will work with your system to restore lasting peace, calm, and self-compassion.
